When I was growing up, the standard size for a television set was 13 inches and the most expensive sets came built into their own cabinets. When the TV gave out, you junked the cabinet as well as the picture tube.
These days, the picture has changed. TVs are much larger, and disposable cabinetwork is hopefully no longer an option. Instead, wc have the entertainment center: a large cabinet that looks like fine furniture on the outside, but has an interior devoted to all kinds of electronic gear—not just the TV. but also a VCR, stereo components, extra speakers, video-game equipment, and plenty of storage space for compact discs and audio- and vidcocasscttes.
