Banding Mitered Edges

When you're finishing a plywood tabletop or cabinet door with mitcrcd edging, cut four short pieces with a 45-degree angle on one end. The short pieces work great to help size and locate the edging. Tape and clamp the short pieces in place on two of the opposite faces, then glue on the first two edging strips. Remove the short blocks so they don't get glued on.

The Oneway Boring Bar is a torque-arresting system. The front end of the cutting bar is supported by a conventional tool rest, but an outrigger on the rear half fits through a secondary, slotted rest to eliminate tool twist. This setup preserves the feel of ordinary lathework, although the cutter moves in only one plane. The teardrop-shaped, highspeed steel cutter can be rotated to offer different cutting radii to the workpiece. A 12-volt light mounted to the bar helps the turner gauge...

Deep Hollowing Lathe Tools js

For turning deep, thin-walled vessels To test the systems, I turned hollow vessels from seasoned, eastern maple and wet, green timber. I assessed vibration and quality of cut as the tools cut 6 to 10 in. beyond the tool rest and up to 6 in. oil the center axis of the lathe. All the work was done on 12-in. and 16-in. Delta lathes. Although each of the systems outperformed standard lathe tools, there are lots of differences in performance and price. I've summed up my findings in lie reviews that...

This system bores the holes and the pieces to help in assembly. The jaws can be opened to 7-1 4 in. and are self-centering on frame parts. Or Better Pocket Holes

When assembling parts using pocket holes, it s common for one part to slide past the other, causing an offset in the joint. To prevent this, clamp the parts to a flat surface for assembly, using a jig like we show at right. Clamp it to your bench, and you'll have both hands free for assembly. Pocket-hole screws arc pan-headed and self-piloting. You will not need to pre-drill the adjoining piece. A square drive makes it easier to keep the driver tip engaged sec Sources, below .
