Reverse the miter gauge for panel cutting

Sheet goods and glued-up panels are often too wide to be fed into the blade with the saw's miter gauge. You can solve this problem by turning the gauge; around so the head of the gauge is fed into the miter-gauge slot first. Attach an auxiliary fence to the miter gauge to create a more stable; surface for pressing against. You can also use a miter-gauge hold-down (See photo at top of page) to keep the panel steady.
