Before you begin this project, a hybrid of the two totes designed by Sellery specifically for inclusion in this book, note that it is not for the faint of heart— the profusion of complex, and highly visible, joints demands close attention and a steady, skilled hand. Right from the outset, the layout of the components and their joint lines must be accurate and your cutting to these lines precise.
If you want to build an exact copy of this box, I suggest that you first develop a full-size rendering of each view from the scaled three-view drawing presented. (For instructions on how to create full-scale drawings, refer to pp. 72-75.) This exercise will not only help you visualize how the box will go together, but the drawing will provide you with a fail-safe way to lay out the exact locations and dimensions of the joints. If you have specific tools that you wish to carry in this tote, this is the time to decide where to place them and to design their support blocking or compartments.
