With the completed case as a solid foundation, you can start adding some of the classic details.

THE COVE FRAMES. Take a look at the drawings above and you can follow along. Tlie first thing I did was

NOTE: Frame pieces ire screwed and glued to case

"sandwich" the case between two identical cove-molded frames. These simple frames make a perfect transition between the case and the base and top.

I call them frames but I actually added them to the case piece by piece. Since the pieces are solidly glued and screwed in place, there's no reason for extra joinery.

This goes pretty quickly. After cutting all the pieces to width and rough length, I took the front and side pieces to the router table to rout a cove on one edge (box
