enough ($324) to make it a viable option for someone on a tight budget.
All three automatic venturi pumps I tested evacuated a 4-ft. by 6-ft. bag in roughly the same time—less than four minutes. Quality VAKuum Products' model VM10 (10 cfm) had the quickest evacuation time (less than a minute), followed by the MVG98L from Mercury Vacuum Presses, which did the job in about a minute.
The three manual venturi pumps I tested worked well, evacuating the 4-ft. by 6-ft. bag in about four minutes. But to me, checking the vacuum reading every 10 to 15 minutes and turning a valve to restore the vacuum isn't worth the money you save in buying a low-end system. You can let the compressor run continuously if you don't want to monitor the vacuum, but I wouldn't want to subject my compressor to this kind of stress.
